Week 4: Post 3

Within the program, we have seminars every week and some of them are done by a PhD student in another lab, Courtney. After Friday's seminar, she wanted to talk to Mac and I about how our projects were going. We truthfully told her that we still weren't sure of the exact process that we needed to be doing and that we hadn't had much guidance. She already knew that Vicki didn't give us much information to go off of and we couldn't communicate with her at the moment as she has Covid. So we discussed our projects and what we wanted our research to produce by the end of the summer. I told Courtney that I want to get to the point in my research where I could run participants in my study. Unfortunately she said that realistically with the time that we have I would probably only be able to do some pilot testing instead of actual testing. I wasn't too upset as I already knew that we have a time crunch as to what we can and can't do. I am feeling relieved that we will have guidance throughout our project now. I actually have someone that I can openly discuss my issues with and get them resolved.

The only issue that I think I might have is with my poster. Of course with Berea, and also at the University, I have to make a poster of my findings for the summer. I am afraid that I might not have enough information and details surrounding my project to produce something good. But I am hoping to discuss this with Courtney.

Courtney also asked us if we wanted to have weekly meetings to essentially report what we are working on and to answer any questions that we have. So we will now have meetings every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with Courtney. This week I will probably discuss with her my issues with my landscape and hoping I can finish it by the end of next week. I am so glad that we actually have someone to discuss our issues with and we can move forward with our research.
